Come Dawn
Come Dawn
A writer works through the night on the High Street, words appear in real time on the windows of an empty shop. Come dawn, a story.
Presented in partnership with Chapter One, Come Dawn ran for 12 hours (from 7PM to 7AM) at the Bakers Oven. It provided an unconscious interpretation of the conversations relating to the Midsteeple Quarter, interpreting the High Street as alive in its absence of commerce.
Come Dawn was the first artwork of a year-long series by artists Colin Tennant and O’Neill, Midnight Streetlight Smalltown Rain which peers into the small town narrative of the night to weave stories, poetry, song, photography and film. Each artwork explores, in different ways our relationship to night time streets.
The project was part funded by the Regional Arts Fund supported by DG Unlimited and DG Council.
